Our local SWT group is engaged in a wide variety of activities, many of which are open to members and the public. This is just an overview. Please find more details on the relevant pages by following the links in green letters.
A visit to Bo’mains Meadow
Our activities include:
We run a monthly winter programme of talks which are open to the public. These are normally held at Stirling Indoor Bowling Club, Stirling but because of the situation with Covid 19 we plan to run these via Zoom in the immediate future.
Our talks are designed to be informative and entertaining and most importantly to provide a forum for people concerned with wildlife conservation to meet and discuss local issues.
We also occasionally organise wildlife walks which are usually family friendly. A few walks have been published that you can follow yourself anytime.
Work parties are organised from time-to-time to maintain the SWT reserves in our area and support other local conservation projects.
Good conservation practice is dependent on knowledge of the state of species and habitats. We monitor over 30 local wildlife communities and provide volunteers for other wildlife recording organisations.
Part of monitoring wildlife is learning to correctly identify and record it. Many people are members of more than one conservation organisation. All record sightings. We can refer you to such organisations if you have interest in recording such scientifically valuable data.
